Pace, for relief, because of moneys stolen from him as school commissioner of the county of Jefferson. Referred to the committee on education. Mr. Thompson presented the petition of sundry citizens of St. Clair yo and Monroe counties, praying for the repeal of an act entitled 'an act to provide for the construction of a levee in St. Clair and Monroe counties." Referred to the committee on internal improvements. Mr. Gray presented the petition of sundry citizens of Knox county, praying for the passage of a law making eight hours a legal day's work for mechanics and laborers in factories, etc. On motion, Referred to the committee on judiciary. Mr. Hanson presented a petition from the commissioners of highways of Blandinsville township, McDonough county, for a change in the road law. On motion, Referred to the committee on township organization. Mr. King presented a petition from sundry citizens of Iroquois county praying for an amendment to the present highway laws. On motion, Referred to the committee on state roads. Mr. Singer moved that the vote by which House bill, No. 229, for "An act to incorporate the Jefferson Horse Railway Company," was passed, be reconsidered. Mr. Green of DeWitt, from the committee on counties, to which was referred House bill, No. 1033, for "An act to authorize the board of supervisors of Knox county to fix the rates of commutation of road labor, and to determine what shall be a lawful fence in said county," reported the same back, and recommended its passage. The report of the committee was concurred in, and the bill Mr. Green of DeWitt, from the committee on counties, to which was referred House bill, No. 771, for "An act to relocate the county seat of Wayne county," reported the same back, and recommended its rejection. The report of the committee was concurred in, and, On motion of Mr. Green, It was indefinitely postponed. Mr. Green of DeWitt, from the committee on counties, to which was referred House bill, No. 804, for "An act to attach all those portions of township number 21 north of range No. 10, 11, 12, 13 and 14 west of the second principal meridian, and of range number 10 east of the third principal meridian, which belong to the county of Iroquois, to Kankakee county, and make it a part of said last mentioned county," reported the same back, and recommended its passage.
