SECTION 4. The duties assigned to the county clerks

supervisors un- in the several courts of the territory of Michigan, concerning the assessment and collection of territorial taxes, shall be performed hereafter by the clerks of the boards of supervisors of the several counties.

Former acts repealed.

SECTION 5. All monies accruing under licences granted for groceries, victualling houses, and ordinaries, under this act, shall be paid into the county treasury in which the same may be levied and raised, and applied to county purposes in said counties.

SECTION 6. That all acts and parts of acts coming within the purview of this act, be and the same are hereby repealed.

SECTION 7. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after the first day of January next.

AN ACT to provide for the compensation of the officers of the legislative assembly, and for other purposes.

SECTION. 1. Be it enacted by the council and house of representatives of the territory of Wisconsin, That there shall be paid out of the sum appropriated by congress, for defraying the contingent expenses of the legislative assembly, for the year one thousand eight hundred and thirty-six:

To P. H. Engle, for his services as speaker of the house of representatives, the sum of three dollars per day extra pay-one hundred and thirty-eight dollars.

To Warner Lewis, for forty-five days' service as secretary to the house of representatives, four dollars per day-one hundred and eighty dollars.

To William C. Jones, for twenty-seven days' service as assistant secretary to the house of representatives, the sum of four dollars per day.

To James Barry, for forty-six days' services as re- James Barry. cording clerk to the house of representative, three dol

lars per day.

To Robert Cock, for twenty days' services as en- Robert Cock. rolling clerk to the house of representatives, three dollars per day.
