3. My heart shall triumph in my Lord,

And bless his works, and bless his word; Thy works of grace, how bright they shine!

How deep thy counsels! how divine!

4. Fools never raise their thoughts so high; Like brutes they live, like brutes they die;

Like grass they flourish, till thy breath
Blast them in everlasting death.

5. But I shall share a glorious part,

When grace hath well refined my heart;
And fresh supplies of joy are shed,
Like holy oil, to cheer my head.

6. Then shall I hear, and see, and know
All I desired or wished below:
And every power find sweet employ
In that eternal world of joy.

Invitation to Wanderers.

1. RETURN, O wand'rer to thy home,
Thy Father calls for thee:

No longer now an exile roam
In guilt and misery.

2. Return, O wand'rer, to thy home;
'Tis Jesus calls for thee:

"The Spirit and the bride say, come;"
O now for refuge flee!

3. Return, O wand'rer, to thy home,
'Tis madness to delay:
There are no pardons in the tomb;
And brief is mercy's day!

1. OPPRESSED with noon-day's scorching heat,

To yonder cross I flee; Beneath its shelter take my seat;

No shade like this for me. [for me.]

2. Beneath that cross clear waters burst,
A fountain sparkling free;
And there I quench my desert thirst;
No spring like this for me.

3. A stranger, here pitch my tent
Beneath this spreading tree;
Here shall my pilgrim life be spent;
No home like this for me.

4. For burdened ones a resting-place,
Beside that cross I see;
Here I cast off my weariness;
No rest like this for me.

Exhortation to Sinners.

1. SINNERS, the voice of God regard,
'Tis mercy speaks to-day:
He calls you, by his sovereign word,
From sin's destructive way.

2. Like the rough sea, that can not rest, You live devoid of peace;

A thousand stings within your breast
Deprive your soul of ease.

3. [Your way is dark, and leads to hell!
Why will you persevere ?
Can you in endless torments dwell,
Shut up in black despair?]

4. Why will you in the crooked ways
Of sin and folly go?

In vain you travail all your days,
To reap immortal woe.

5. But he that turns to God shall live,
Through his abounding grace;
His mercy will the guilt forgive
Of those who seek his face.

6. Bow to the sceptre of his word,
Renouncing every sin;

Submit to him, your sovereign Lord,
And learn his will divine.

7. His love exceeds your highest thoughts, He pardons like a God:

He will forgive your num'rous faults,
Through a Redeemer's blood.
