Ein Buch über Shakspeare ist aus mehreren Gründen eine litterarische Nothwendigkeit geworden. Seitdem A. W. v. Schlegel seine berühmten Vorlesungen über die Geschichte der dramatischen Kunst gehalten, ist nicht nur in Deutschland, besonders durch L. Tieck's ausgezeichnete Arbeiten, sondern auch in England für die Geschichte und richtige Würdigung des großen Dichters Viel geschehen. Ja selbst in Frankreich hat er seitdem Eingang und Anerkennung gefunden. Ich erinnere nur an Werke wie W. Hazlitt's Characters of Shaspeare's plays. 1817. Nath.
