A message from the council by their secretary, to wit:

"Mr. Speaker: The council have adopted the report of the joint committee of conference on the disagreeing vote of the two houses on the amendment of the council to

No. 31, (H.) A bill to repeal the several acts appointing a treasurer and auditor, and for other purposes;'

And have passed the bill with the amendments there in recommended; and have passed,

No. 27, (H.) Resolution relative to the survey of a road from Fort Howard to Plover Portage;'

And have refused to recede from their amendments to

No. 5, (H.) entitled 'Address of the legislature of the territory of Wisconsin to the secretary of the treasury of the United States." And have passed,

No. 24, (C.) Joint resolution for information from the treasury department relative to the expenses of the legislative assembly;' In which I am directed to ask the concurrence of this house." The question then recurred on ordering bill No. 37 (C.) to a third reading; and being put,

It passed in the negative.

And a division being called, there were ayes 5, noes 11.

Bills Nos. 50 and 54 (C.) were ordered to a third reading, and by special order of the house were read the third time, passed, and the titles thereof agreed to, the 16th rule of the house having been suspended on motion of Mr. Darling.

Mr. Agry, from the judiciary committee, to which a petition was referred, reported a memorial, which was read the first and second time, and the rule to print suspended in reference to it, entitled

No. 8, "Memorial to congress for the indemnification of Elbert Dickinson."

Mr. Elmore moved to reconsider the vote by which the house had just postponed indefinitely bill No. 40 (C.)

And the question being put thereon,

It passed in the affirmative.

The question was then put on the indefinite postponement of said bill,

And it passed in the negative.

The said bill was then ordered to the third reading, and by the special order of the house was then read the third time, passed, and the title thereof agreed to, so much of the 16th rule of the house as prohibits bill from receiving their second and third readings on the same day having been suspnded for that purpose.

Mr. Agry moved the house adjourn unil half-past six o'clock, P. M.;

And the question being put,

It passed in the negative.

Mr. Parsons moved to reconsider the vote by which the house refused to order bill No. 37 (C.) to the third read.ng;

And the question being put thereon,

It passed in the affirmative.

On motion of Mr. Hopkins,

Ordered, that said bill and amendment do lie on the table. Mr. Ellis, by leave, introduced the following resolution, to wit: Resolved, the council concurring, that resolution No. 15, (H) by which it was ordered that the present session of the assembly cease and determine on the 29th inst., be and the same is hereby rescinded.

Mr. Hunkins moved that said resolution do lie on the table; And the question being put thereon,

It passed in the negative;

And the ayes and noes having been called for by Mr. Elmore, Those who voted in the affirmative, were

Messrs. Bartlett, Capron, Hunkins, Long, Masters, Olin, Parsons, Platt, Thompson, Trowbridge, and Walker (speaker)-11. Those who voted in the negative were,

Mr. Darling moved that the further action on said resolution be postponed until to-morrow;

Which was disagreed to.

The question then recurred on the adoption of said resolution; and it being put,

It passed in the negative;

And the ayes and noes having been called for by Mr. Agry,

Those who voted in the negative, were

The message from the council was taken up, when the following bills and resolution were read the first and second time, viz:

No. 55, (C.) “A bill to amend an act to incorporate the trustees of the Prairieville Academy;"

No. 57, (C.) "A bill to legalize the official acts of Rollin Blount;"

No. 24, (C.) "Joint resolution for information from the treasury department relative to the expenses of the legislative assembly;"

And the amendments of the council to bill No. 43, (II.) “A bill to provide for the leasing of school sections," having been read, the house concurred in all the amendments to the first section of the bill, and refused to concur in the second amendment, which struck out all after the first section;

And Messrs. Hopkins and Darling were appointed a committee of conference thereon.

And the amendment to bill No. 49, (H.) "A bill to authorize school district number one, in Dane county, to levy an additional tax for building a school house," was read and concurred in.

The action of the council on memorial No. 5, (H.) "Address of the legislature of the territory of Wisconsin to the secretary of the treasury of the United States," having been read,

Mr. Elmore moved that the house adhere to their non-concurrence in the amendments of the council;

Which was agreed to.

On motion of Mr. Hunkins,

The house adjourned until 7 o'clock, P. M.

On motion of Mr. Ellis,

The following resolution was adopted, to wit:

Resolved, by the house of representatives, the honorable the council concurring, that no new bill or resolution requiring the executive approval, be introduced after the morning hour of Satur day next, the 27th instant."

Mr. Long, from the committee on enrolled bills, reported the following to be correctly enrolled;

Which was signed by the speaker, to wit:

On motion of Mr. Thompson,

The house resolved itself into the committee of the whole house,

After a long time spent therein, the committee rose and reported the following bills and resolution with amendments, viz: Bills Nos. 40, 46 and 50, (H.); and

And the following without amendment, to wit:

Bills, Nos. 47, 3, 7, 27, 34, 36, (H.); and 67, 55 and 23 (C.) Memorial No. 8, (H.); and

Resolutions 19, 23, 24, (II.); and 55 and 24, (C.)

The amendments to bills Nos. 46 and 50, (H.) were concurred

in, and the bills severally ordered to be engrossed.

The amendment to resolution No. 23, (H.) was concurred in; when
