Sing on your heavenly way,
Ye ransom'd sinners, sing;
Sing on, rejoicing ev'ry day

In Christ, th' eternal King.

Soon shall we hear Him say-
"Ye blessed children, come:"
Soon will He call us hence away,
And take His pilgrims home.

Soon shall th' enraptured tongue
His endless praise proclaim,
And sweeter voices swell the song
Of Moses and the Lamb.

REIGN OF CHRIST. REV. xix. 6. 7s.

1 HARK! the song of Jubilee,
Loud as mighty thunder's roar,
Or the fulness of the sea,
When it breaks upon the shore.

2 Hallelujah! for the Lord
God Omnipotent shall reign:
Hallelujah! let the word

Echo round the earth and main.

3 Hallelujah!-hark! the sound,
From the centre to the skies,
Wakes above, beneath, around,
All creation's harmonies.

4 See Jehovah's banners furl'd, [done;
Sheath'd His sword; He speaks-'tis
And the kingdoms of the world
Are the kingdoms of His Son.

5 He shall reign from pole to pole;
Earth shall own His boundless sway;
He shall reign when, like a scroll,
Yonder heavens have pass'd away.

6 Then the end-beneath His rod
Man's last enemy shall fall:
Hallelujah! Christ in God,
God in Christ, is all in all.

AWAKE, ye saints, awake,
And hail the sacred day;
In loftiest songs of praise
Your joyful homage pay:

148th.

Welcome the day that God hath bless'd,
The type of heaven's eternal rest.

On this auspicious morn

3

The Lord of life arose;

He burst the bars of death,

And vanquish'd all our foes:
And now He pleads our cause above,
And reaps the fruit of all His love.

All hail, triumphant Lord!
Heaven with hosannas rings;

And earth in humbler strains

Thy praise responsive sings: "Worthy the Lamb, that once was slain, Through endless years to live and reign."

JOHN xix. 30.

8.7.4.

1 HARK! the voice of love and mercy Sounds aloud from Calvary;

See, it rends the rocks asunder, Shakes the earth, and veils the sky! It is finish'd!"

66

Hear the dying Saviour cry!

2 "It is finish'd!" Oh what pleasure Do the wondrous words afford! Heavenly blessings without measure Flow to us through Christ the Lord. "It is finish'd!"

Saints, the dying words record.

3 Tune your harps anew, ye seraphs; Strike them to Immanuel's name : All on earth, and all in heaven, Join the triumph to proclaim; "It is finish'd!"

Glory to the bleeding Lamb.

LORD'S DAY EVENING.

1 ERE another sabbath's close,
Ere again we seek repose,

Lord, our song ascends to Thee,
At Thy feet we bow the knee

N

78.

2 For the mercies of the day,
For this rest upon our way,
Thanks to Thee alone be given,
Lord of earth, and king of heaven.

3 Cold our services have been,
Mingled every prayer with sin;
But Thou canst and wilt forgive;
By Thy grace alone we live.

4 Whilst this thorny path we tread,
May Thy love our footsteps lead;
When our journey here is past,
May we rest with Thee at last.

5 Let these earthly sabbaths prove
Foretastes of our joys above;
While their steps Thy pilgrims bend
To the rest which knows no end.

158.

PRAYER FOR MINISTERS.

L. M.

1 FATHER of mercies, bow Thine ear, Attentive to our earnest prayer;

We pray for those who plead for Thee;"
Successful pleaders may they be.

2 Clothe them with energy divine,
And let the words they speak be Thine;
To them Thy sacred truth reveal,
Dispel their fears, inflame their zeal.

3 Teach them to sow the heavenly seed;
Teach them Thy chosen flock to feed;
Teach them immortal souls to gain,
And Thy pure gospel to maintain.

4 Let list'ning multitudes around
Hear from their lips the joyful sound,
In humble strains Thy grace implore,
And own Thy Spirit's living power.

[blocks in formation]

1 GOD moves in a mysterious way His wonders to perform:

C. M.

He plants His footsteps in the sea,
And rides upon the storm.

2 Deep in unfathomable mines
Of never-failing skill,

He treasures up His bright designs,
And works His sov'reign will.

3 Ye fearful saints, fresh courage take;
The clouds ye so much dread
Are big with mercy, and shall break
In blessings on your head.

4 Judge not the Lord by feeble sense,
But trust Him for His grace;
Behind a frowning providence
He hides a smiling face.
