REPORT OF THE COMMITTEE ON PRINTING. The committe appointed to enquire and ascertain what would be reasonable terms upon which to contract for the printing needed by the Convention, beg leave to report that they proceeded to discharge this duty, by seeking information on the subject from all the persons in this city, who are now engaged in conducting job printing establishments. The committe obtained the evidence of the proprietors of five of the largest printing establishments in Richmond, who concurred in representing the following, as a fair and reasonable schedule of prices, for such printing as will be required by the Convention, viz : FOR PRINTING OF JOURNAL. For composition, per 1,000 ems, seventy cents. FOR PRINTING ORDINANCES AND RESOLUTIONS. For composition, per 1,000 ems, forty-five cents. For press-work, per token, fifty cents. FOR PRINTING DOCUMENTS. For composition, per 1,000 ems, forty-five cents. For press-work, per token, fifty cents. The committee now report, that they deem the evidence obtained satisfactory to show the above schedule to be a fair and reasonable one, to be adopted as a basis for contracting for the work necessary for the Convention. They further recommend, that an arrangement be made with the Superintendant of Public Printing for the State of Virginia, by which that officer shall procure and provide the supply of paper necessary to be used in executing the printing for this body. And they recommend that the Convention appoint a committee of three of its members, to be charged with the duty of examing the printing done for the body, and of auditing the bills preferred for the same.
