"An act to change the time of holding the annual meetings of the several boards of county supervisors;"

"An act to provide for the election of a printer to the legislative assembly."

Mr. Darling, from the committee on the judiciary, to which a petition on the subject had been referred, reported the uncermentioned bill, to wit:

Which was read the first and second time.

The title to the said bill was amended to read "A bill to set off the several towns therein named."

The speaker laid before the house a communication from James Morrison, treasurer of the territory, in answer to a resolution of this house relating to the vouchers in his hands for which scrip was issued; which was read, and

On motion of Mr. Birchard,

Referred to the committee on finance. [SEE APPENDIX.] Mr. Elinore, by leave, offered the following resolution, which was adopted, to wit:

No. 17, (II.) "Resolution concerning a light-house at Sauk Harbor," as follows:

"Resolved, by the council and house of representatives of Wisconsin territory, that our delegate is hereby requested to urge upon congress the necessity of making an appropriation for the purpose of placing a revolving light at Sauk Harbor, within this territory."

On motion of Mr. Crossman,

Ordered, that the reports of the select committee relative to the account of Daniel Baxter, be taken up for consideration.

Mr. Crossman then moved that the majority report of said committee be accepted, and the committee discharged from the further consideration thereof; when,

Mr. Palmer moved to amend the motion so as to include the

minority report;

And the question being put on agreeing to the amendment proposed by Mr. Palmer,

It passed in the affirmative.

And then the motion of Mr. Crossman, as amended, was agreed to.

The undermentioned resolution, reported by the majority of said committee, was then read the first and second time, and

On motion of Mr. Hunkins,

The rule requiring the same to be printed was suspended, viz: No. 5, (H.) "Resolution relative to an allowance to Daniel Baxter."

On motion of Mr. Agry,

Ordered, that the undermentioned bill be referred to the committee of the whole house, to wit:

No. 15, (H.) “A bill for an act for the preservation of timber upon rivers and streams."

On motion of Mr. Tripp,

Ordered, that the undermentioned bill be referred to the committee of the whole house, to wit:

No. 32, (C.) "A bill in relation to the territorial road from Mineral Point, by Whitewater, to Milwaukee."

On motion of Mr. Hunkins,

Ordered, that the undermentioned bill be referred to the committee of the whole house, to wit:

No. 21, (H.) “A bill to authorize the construction of a bridge across the Milwaukee river, in the town of Milwaukee."

On motion of Mr. Manahan,

Ordered, that the undermentioned bill be referred to the committee of the whole house, to wit:

No. 23, (C.) "A bill to define the boundaries of certain counties therein named, and for other purposes."

Thereupon the house resolved itself into the committee of the whole house, for the consideration of the aforementioned bills; Mr. Elmore in the chair.

After some time spent therein, the committec rose and reported No. 15 with, and Nos. 23 and 32 without amendment; and that they had made some progress in bill No. 21, and desired leave to sit again thereon.

On motion of Mr. Manahan,

Ordered, that bill No. 23 be indefinitely postponed.

On motion of Mr. Crossman,

Ordered, that bill No. 15 be laid on the table.

Bill No. 32 was then ordered to a third reading;

And leave granted to sit again for the consideration of bill No. 21.

Mr. Long, from the committee on enrolled bills, reported the following to be correctly enrolled, which were signed by the speaker, to wit:

"An act for the relief of the town of Sharon, in Walworth county;"

"Memorial to congress for a donation of land to improve the Grant river slough."

Mr. Palmer, by leave, and agreeably to notice previously given, introduced the following bill, which was read the first and second time, to wit:

No. 27, (II.) "A bill to prohibit the circulation of the bills of foreign banks within the limits of the territory of Wisconsin."

On motion of Mr. Ellis,

Ordered, that the aforementioned bill No. 27, be printed and referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Elmore moved that the undermentioned resolution be now taken up for consideration, to wit:

No. 15, (H.) "Resolution relative to the adjournment of the present session of the legislative assembly."

And the question being put thereon,

It passed in the negative.

And the ayes and noes having been called for by Mr. Elmore, Those who voted in the affirmative were,

Which was read the first and second time.

Mr. Crossman moved that the house adjourn until 2 o'clock this afternoon, when

Mr. Elmore moved that the house do now adjourn.

Mr. Olin presented the petition of C. Eastman, and other citizens of Milwaukee, for the removal of vagrant Indians;

Which was referred to the committee on territorial affairs. The speaker laid before the house a communication of M. M. Jackson, attorney general, relative to the suit of William Doughty, vs. the territory of Wisconsin;

Mr. Elmore, by leave, offered the following resolution,
Which was adopted, to wit:

"Resolved, That the committee of conference, on the disagreeing vote of the two houses, on resolution relative to the location of university lands, be requested to report forthwith."

Mr. Platt, from the committee on mining and smelting, to which a resolution of this house on the subject had been referred, made a report relating the mineral lands of Wisconsin, and the leasing system. [SEE APPENDIX.]
