SENATE JOURNAL.

EXTRA SESSION.

Lansing, Monday, June 9, 1851.

Pursuant to the proclamation of the Executive, convening a spe cial session of the Legislature, the Senate assembled this day in their chamber in the Capitol, in the village of Lansing, and at the hour of 10 o'clock A. M., were called to order by the Hon. Wm. M. Fenton, Lieut. Governor and President of the Senate.

The roll of the Senate was then called by the Secretary, and the following named Senators answered to their names:

Messrs. Axford, Barber, Beach, Copeland, Dort, Harvie, Isbell, LeRoy, Mead, Riley, Shoemaker, Sturgis-12.

A quorum being present,

The following proclamation was read by the Secretary, and order. ed placed upon the journal:

Whereas, important public business requires legislative action, and renders necessary an extra session of the Legislature;

Therefore, I, John S. Barry, Governor of the State of Michigan, by virtue of the authority in me vested by the constitution, do hereby convene the Legislature, to meet at the capitol, in the village of Lansing, in said State, on Monday, the ninth day of June next; and the members of the Senate and House of Representatives are required then and there to assemble in their respective legislative
