So the report was adopted.

The following message from the house of representatives was delivered by the clerk thereof, viz:

"Mr. President: The governor has notified the house of representatives that he has on this day approved 'An act to provide for laying out the several territorial roads therein named ;' and 'An act to provide for completing a new roof upon the capitol, and for other purposes.'

I am directed to present for your signature, ‘An act for the relief of the inhabitants of the town of Fond du Lac, and in relation to town officers;'

And to inform the council that the joint report of the committee of conference relative to the disagreement on bill No. 58, 'A bill to provide for the payment of certain territorial debts therein named,' has been adopted by the house of representatives.

I am directed to present for the concurrence of this house 'Resolution concerning the purchase of stationery for the next session of the legislature;'

And to inform you that a resolution relative to the purchase of American Almanacs has been negatived by the house of representatives."

*Mr. Newland moved, that the council resolve itself into a committee of the whole for the consideration of a "Resolution concerning the purchase of stationery for the next session of the legislative assembly;"

And the motion was decided in the negative.

A call of the council was ordered, and

Mr. Rountree was reported absent, and the sergeant-at-arms "was direct to inform Mr. Rountree that his attendance was required.

Mr. Rountree having taken his seat, further proceedings under the call were dispensed with.

Mr. Crocker, from the committee on enrolled bills, reported as correctly enrolled, the following, viz:

"Joint resolution relative to the distribution of American State Papers;" also,

"A bill to provide for the payment of certain territorial debts therein named."

The following message from the house of representatives was delivered by the clerk thereof, viz:

"Mr. President: I am directed to present for your signature, 'An act to provide for the payment of certain territorial debts therein named;' and 'Joint resolution relative to the distribution of American State Papers.'

And the president signed the act and joint resolution referred to in the above message.

Mr. Crocker, from the committee on enrolled bills, made the following report, viz:

"The committee on enrollment report, that they did on this seventeenth day of April, present to the governor for his approval, a bill entitled 'An act to provide for the payment of certain territorial debts therein named.'

H. CROCKER, On the part of the council. ROBERT M. LONG,

Chairman of the committee on the part of the house."

On motion, the council took up the resolution from the house, entitled "Resolution concerning the purchase of stationery for the next session of the legislative assembly;"

And the question being on the adoption of said resolution, Mr. White moved that the same be indefinitely postponed; And the ayes and noes being called on the question, they were as follows:

Those who voted in the affirmative, were

Messrs. Barber, Crocker, Dewey, La Chapelle, Rountree, White and Whiton-7.

Those who voted in the negative, were

Messrs. Heath, Hugunin, Newland, and Martin, (Pres't,)-4. So the resolution was indefinitely postponed.

The following message from the house of representatives was delivered by the clerk thereof, viz:

"Mr. President: The house of representatives have appointed Messrs. Darling and Platt a committee on their part, to join with a like committee on the part of this house, to inform his excellenthe governor, that the two houses have completed the business before them, and are now ready to adjourn; and to ask him if he has any further communication to make to them."

Mr. Whiton, from the committee on enrolled bills, made the following report, viz:

"The committee on enrollment report, that they did on the 17th day of April, 1843, present to his excellency the governor for his approval, a bill entitled 'A bill to provide for laying out several territorial roads therein named;' also, a bill entitled 'An act to provide for the payment of the expenses of the legislative assembly; also, a bill entitled 'An act concerning the time of commencing actions, and for other purposes;' also, a bill entitled 'An act for the relief of the inhabitants of the town of Fond du Lac, and in relation to town officers.'

Chairman of the committee on the part of the house." Mr. Crocker moved, that a committee of two be appointed on the part of the council, to unite with a similar committee on the part of the house, for the purpose of informing the governor of the territory that the two houses have terminated their business, and to ask him if he has any further communications to make to them. The motion was agreed to, and

Messrs. Crocker and Heath were appointed of said committee on the part of the council.

Mr. Crocker, from the said committee, reported, "That the committee appointed to inform the governor that the two houses had completed the business before them, had performed the duties assigned them, and that the governor had informed the committee that he had no further communications to make to the legisla tive assembly."

The following message from the house of representatives was delivered by the clerk thereof, viz:

"Mr. President: I am directed to inform the council, that the house of representatives have completed the business before them, and are now ready to adjourn."

On motion of Mr. Dewey,

Ordered, that the secretary of the council inform the house that the council have completed the business before them, and are now ready to adjourn.

Mr. Rountree submitted the following resolution, which was unanimously adopted, viz:

Resolved, That the thanks of the council are tendered to the Hon. M. L. Martin, for the able and impartial manner in which he has presided over the deliberations of this body during the present session.

Mr. Rountree then moved that the council do now adjourn sine die; and,

The motion having been decided in the affirmative,

The President declared the council adjourned, sine die.
