Small folio, bound in straight-grained claret morocco, blind tooling on sides, gilt edges, title in red and black. 18 CURIOUS ENGRAVED PLATES (a few inlaid and mounted), including the rare one of "Theophila treading on a Serpent," and the two engraved by HOLLAR. A few leaves neatly re-margined.

It is said that of the known copies of this rare work no two are alike in illustration. The Foote copy contained but 12 plates, and the Bierstadt 15. Plate I, with the portrait of the Author, is in this copy, but the Barlow portrait is wanting, as is usually the Page 123 does not contain the engraved verses.

2 vols. small folio, FIRST ENGLISH EDITION, bound in full dark green levant morocco, paneled gilt back and sides, edges gilded on the rough. Title to Vol. 1 neatly repaired and inlaid, and the blank margins of a few other leaves restored. Some margins torn, and writing on a few leaves.

RARE. THIS COPY IS IN THE VERY EARLIEST STATE, Both titles being dated 1620. Nearly all known copies are dated first part 1625, second part 1620. MR. B. M. PICKERING, in describing a copy, says: “I HAVE SEEN ONLY FIVE COPIES (WITH 1620 DATE ON BOTH PARTS) IN THE COURSE OF MY EXPERIENCE."
