PRIVATE ACTS.

AN ACT

To change the name of William Birtwhistle.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Nebraska, That it shall be lawful for the person heretofore bearing the name of William Birtwhistle to change said name to William Birt.

SEC. 2. This act to take effect and be in force from and after its passage. Approved January 5th, 1858.

AN ACT

To change the name of Achilles Rogers to George Rogers.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Nebraska, That it shall be lawful for the person heretofore bearing the name of Achilles Rogers, to change said name to George Rogers. SEC. 2. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its pasSage.

Approved January 5th, 1858.

AN ACT

To confirm the title of George L. Miller to certain Real Estate in the City of Omaha in the
Territory of Nebraska.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Nebraska, That all actions at law and in chancery brought for any cause whatever, for the purpose of setting aside, impairing, canceling, or in any manner effecting the validity of a certain deed of conveyance, executed by Jesse Low, Mayor of the City of Omaha, to George L. Miller, of said city of Omaha, dated July 28th, A. D. 1857, and recorded in the office of the Register of deeds of the county of Douglass and Territory of Nebraska, in Book G, pages 5 and 6, of the following described real estate, to wit: Lots No. five and six, (5 and 6) in block E; lots No. three, four, five, six, seven, and eight, (3, 4, 5, 6, 7, and 8,) in block F; lots No. one, two, three, four, five, and six, (1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6,) in block G; and lot No. four, (4,) and the west forty-three (43) feet of lot No. three (3) in block H, as designated on the latest edition of the map of Omaha, published by Messrs. Poppelton and Byers, of Omaha City, all of said lots being in said City, in the county of Douglass, and Territory of Nebraska, and being the said property donated by said City of Omaha, to said George L. Miller, for the erection of a Hotel, shall be brought within thirty days after the passage and approval of this act, or the said action and the cause thereof shall be forever

barred.

SEC. 2. The said deed of conveyance described and set forth in Section 1, of this Act, is hereby declared to be a strict, full, and complete compliance. with the provisions of an act of Congress passed and approved May 23d, A. D. 1844, and entitled, "an act for the relief of the citizens of towns upon the lands of the United States, under certain circumstances," and also with the provisions of an act of the Legislative Assembly of the Territory of Nebraska, passed and approved February 10th, A. D. 1857, and entitled "An act regulating the disposal of lands purchased in trust for town sites," and the event arising under said acts in respect to said real estate in said Jessie Low, Mayor of said City of Omaha, as aforesaid, as entered in trust for the use and benefit of the owners and occupants thereof, is hereby declared to have been faithfully, impartially, legally and equitably fulfilled and consummated in every particular, by such deed of conveyance of the same, is hereby ratified and confirmed.

SEC. 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage.

I, Thomas B. Cuming, Secretary of the Territory of Nebraska, hereby certify that the foregoing bill having been in the possesion of the Governor more than three days, (Sundays excepted) after the same was presented to him, has become a law.

AN ACT

To authorize the Corporate authorities of the City of Brownville to dispose of property therein.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the Council and House of Representatives of the Territory of Nebraska, That the corporate authorities of the City of Brownville, Nemeha county, Territory of Nebraska, shall have power and are hereby authorized to sell, or otherwise dispose of, any or all real estate, or other property, which heretofore has been, or hereafter may be, donated to, or purchased by said corporation, for any purpose whatever, as to them may seem for the best interest of the City, and all funds arising from such sales shall be placed in the City Treasury, and disposed of as other funds belonging thereto.

SEC. 2. When at any time the Corporate Authorities of said City may deem it proper to sell any portion of the real estate belonging thereto, they shall submit the matter to a vote of the legal voters of said City, and if by them approved, then said City Authorities shall proceed to sell such property at such time and in such manner, as may to them seem best.

SEC. 3. This act to take effect and be in force from and after its publication in the Nebraska Advertiser.

I, Thomas B. Cuming, Secretary of the Territory of Nebraska, hereby certify that the foregoing bill, having been in the possession of the Governor more than three days (Sundays excepted) after the same was presented to him, has become a law.
