Desainliens, who metamorphosed his name into Holy Band or Hollyband, was a fashionable Italian teacher of Shakespeare's time (1566-93) and the author of many manuals of instruction in the principles of the Italian tongue. [This publication was on its original appearance, in 1552, described as what it actually is, an ABCDarium for schoolboys. This edition was enlarged and revised by John Higgins, an Oxford Man, and one of the persons concerned in the "Mirror for Magistrates." There are only these two issues, although Higgins left a copy prepared for an enlarged reprint. Catalogue.]
