He will not be afraid of any evil tidings: for his heart ftandeth faft, and believeth in the LORD.

His heart is established, and will not fhrink: until he fee his defire upon his enemies.

He hath difperfed abroad,

and given to the poor and his righteousness remaineth for ever; his horn fhall be exalted with honour.

The ungodly fhall fee it, and it shall grieve him: he fhall gnash with his teeth and confume away; the defire of the ungodly shall perish.

Antiphon.-Praise the LORD, O my foul and all that is within me praise His holy Name. LORD, have mercy upon me:

Heal my foul, for I have finned against Thee. O think upon Thy congregation:

Whom Thou haft purchased and redeemed

Wilt thou not turn again and quicken us:
That Thy people may rejoice in Thee.
O LORD, fhew Thy mercy upon us :

Let my prayer be fet forth in Thy fight as the incenfe: and let the lifting up of my hands be an evening facrifice.

O LORD our heavenly FATHER, almighty and

everliving God, by whose providence both the day and the night are governed; vouchsafe, we befeech Thee, as Thou haft this day preferved us by Thy goodness, so ftill this night to fhadow us under the bleffed wing of Thy moft mighty protection, and to cover us with Thy heavenly mercy, that neither the princes of darkness may have any power over us, nor the works of darknefs overwhelm us, but that we, being armed with Thy defence, may be preferved from all adverfities that may hurt the body, and from all wicked thoughts which may affault and defile the foul; through JESUS CHRIST Our LORD. Amen.

O Thou that art the Light eternal, and the Sun of righteousness, evermore arifing and never going down, giving life, and food, and gladness unto all things; mercifully vouchfafe to fhine upon us, and caft Thy bleffed beams upon the darkness of our understandings, and the black mists of our fins and errors; for Thy only merits, Who art alone our Saviour, JESUS CHRIST. Amen.

O everlasting GOD, Who haft ordained and conftituted the fervices of angels and men in a wonderful order, look mercifully upon us this night, and grant, that as Thy holy angels alway do Thee fervice in heaven, fo by Thy appointment they may fuccour and defend us on earth; through JESUS CHRIST Our LORD. Amen.

Brethren, be fober, be vigilant, because your adversary the devil walketh about as a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour; whom refist stedfaft in the faith.

O Almighty FATHER, LORD of heaven and earth, I confefs to Thee all the fecret and manifeft fins which I have this day committed in thought, word, or deed, through my fault, through my own fault, through my moft grievous fault, efpecially [here use a form of self-examination]. Wherefore I fupplicate pardon from Thee, the juft and merciful GOD, and grace that I may fin

no more.

The Almighty God pity me, pardon and abfolve me from all my fins, voluntary or involuntary, in word or deed, in knowledge or ignorance, by night or by day, in mind or intent, and bring me fafe to everlasting life. Amen.

The Almighty and merciful God grant to us pardon, abfolution, and remiffion of all our fins. Amen.

Before the ending of the day,
Creator of the world, we pray

That, with Thy wonted favour, Thou

Whofo dwelleth under the defence of the Moft High; fhall abide under the fhadow of the Almighty.
