When we enter into our bed.

In the Name of our LORD JESUS CHRIST, Who was crucified upon His Cross, and laid into His grave for me, I lay me down to reft. He blefs me, keep me, and save me; raise me up again, and bring me at laft to life eternal. Amen.

I will lay me down in peace and take my reft,

for it is Thou LORD only that makest me dwell in fafety.

Exhortation.

Look thou upon the Wounds of Him Who hangeth upon the Crofs; the Blood of Him Who dieth; the price paid by Him Who redeemeth thee. His Head is bent to kifs; His Heart laid open to love; His Arms fet wide to embrace ; His whole Body laid out to redeem. with fcourgings and reproaches, fpit upon, crowned with thorns, buffeted, fmitten with a reed, blindfolded, stripped, nailed to the Crofs, lifted up upon the Crofs, numbered among thieves, made to drink vinegar and gall, and wounded with a fpear; do Thou, O GOD, by these Thy moft holy pains, which I Thy unworthy servant call to mind, by Thy Crofs and precious Death, deliver me from the pains of hell, and vouchsafe to lead me whither Thou didst lead the thief, who was crucified with Thee, Who liveft and reignest with the FATHER and the HOLY GHOST, for ever and ever. O merciful JESUs, by Thy most bitter Paffion, and all the merits of Thy moft sacred Humanity, I befeech Thee to pardon and blot out all my fins. Wash me with Thy precious Blood, heal, purify, and fanctify me more and more.

O merciful Redeemer, Who didft fuffer Thy facred Hands and Feet to be pierced with nails and fastened to the Crofs, and there didst with effufion of Blood fuffer inexpreffible torments; Grant that I may always with a faithful and thankful heart bear in mind Thy exceeding great Love, Who wouldest endure fo great and grievous things for me. Holy JESUS, Who waft lifted up upon the Crofs, to draw all men unto Thee; by Thy - Crofs and Paffion, both in Soul and Body, cleanse me from all filthiness, both of flesh and spirit; crucify this corruptible flesh of mine, with all the inordinate affections and unruly lufts thereof, that, being conformed to Thy Death, I may be partaker of Thy Refurrection, that fuffering with Thee here, I may reign with Thee hereafter, where Thou liveft.
