my whole heart, and please Thee in all things and above all things, why is this not fulfilled in me, O moft loving JESUS, for I can defire nothing that is good, much lefs can I do, except that which Thy grace fhall have inspired me to defire and do? What, therefore, Thou inspirest, and commandeft, and praisest, do Thou pour into me, that I may will it and perform it. O moft merciful Jesus, now I make again the fame request; do not deny me that which Thou commandeft, fince it is pleafing to Thee, and most desired by me. Fill my heart with the most perfect and most ardent love, full of faith and conftancy, that all that I am, and all my powers, and every thing which is within me, and about me, may worship, may feek, may thirst for, may love, may serve and please Thee fully and for ever.

Fifth Day.

O LORD JESU CHRIST, fhew forth Thy virtue and power in me, a most miserable finner; fhew that Thy goodness is greater than my wickedness; grant that I, who have been hitherto turned from Thee, and cold towards Thee, may now be wholly converted to Thee, and being fet on fire by the flame of Thy love, may be tranfformed into Thee. My God, my Creator, how long I do not know Thee? how long doft Thou lie hid, and I do not feek Thee? yea Thou art near, and do I not find Thee? Thou art my only falvation, and do I not feek Thee? Thereore most loving, most faithful lover, Who when

I exifted not didft love me, and that I might exist haft made me, grant that I may long after Thee, thirst for Thee, feek Thee, run after Thee, and for love of Thee loathe all things which are out of Thee.

Sixth Day.

FO most gracious LORD JESU CHRIST, grant that I may wholly love Thee most fervently. O moft faithful LORD JESU CHRIST, grant that I may feel with how great a love Thou hast loved, and doft still love us! O fweeteft LORD JESU CHRIST, how willingly would I love Thee! and fince Thou haft granted that I might thus will, grant, therefore, that I may love Thee with my whole heart, for without Thee I can do nothing. Sweet JESUS, pardon my vileness and my boldnefs, bestow upon me what I feek, and give me what I afk; make me to be afire with the most pure and ardent love of Thee, to be drawn to and loft in Thee, and to forget all things which are out of Thee. O Thou Lover of my heart, grant that it may die for love of Thee.

Seventh Day.

O moft lovely JESUS, grant me a most faithful, most strong, most chaste and pure love for Thee, which may feel Thee inceffantly, may praise Thee, may thank Thee, may obey Thee, may thirst most ardently for Thy honour, and bestow itself wholly upon Thee. O JESUS, crucified for

me, transform me, I beseech Thee, into Thyself, and cause me to be crucified in Thee with the nails of love fo that I may never be parted from Thee. Grant that I may please Thee wholly, always, and moft perfectly. O most lovely JESUS, O moft faithful lover, O moft devoted lover, would that I might attain to be wholly fatiated with the love of Thee! O when shall I fee Thee face to face? O would that I might attain to be loft in Thy love! Would that I might attain to be afire in Thee by the flame of Thy love, to be united to Thee, and to be confumed in Thee! O JESU moft to be longed after, grant me to long after Thee, fo that I may not be able to live without Thee, but be fick of love for Thee. My foul hungereth and thirsteth after Thee, my foul liveth and fubfifteth in Thee alone, my foul refteth in Thee alone. O holy JESUS. fill me full of Thy love and moft perfect humility, May I ever fo burn for love of Thee with most perfect charity, as at the fame time I ceafe not to regard my own vilenefs. I am a finner, Thou art my God, Thou art all to me, into Thy hands I commend my spirit and all that I am.

For the Gift of Charity or Divine Love.

O LORD, who haft taught us that all our doings without Charity are nothing worth, fend Thy HOLY GHOST, and pour into our hearts that most excellent gift of Charity, the very bond of peace and of all virtues, without which whofoever

liveth is counted dead before Thee: Grant this for Thine only Son JESUS CHRIST's fake. Amen.

This may be added after any of the former.

An Office

PREPARATORY TO AND AFTER HOLY COMMUNION.

merciful.

I am well pleased: that | righteous: yea, our God is the LORD hath heard the voice of my prayer;

That He hath inclined His ear unto me therefore will I call upon Him as long as I live.

The fnares of death compaffed me round about: and the pains of hell gat hold

upon me.

I fhall find trouble and heaviness, and I will call upon the Name of the LORD: O LORD, I befeech Thee, deliver my foul.

The LORD preferveth the fimple: I was in mifery and He helped me.

Turn again then unto thy reft, O my foul; for the LORD hath rewarded thee.

And why? Thou haft delivered my foul from death: mine eyes from tears, and my feet from falling.

I will walk before the LORD: in the land of the living.

I believed, and therefore Gracious is the LORD, and will I fpeak; but I was fore
