holy Scripture promifes to fucceed, after the Laft day; and the Renovation and Change of the Universe, into a far better ́ State than the prefent? Tho' that be to us Unknown, Yet no doubt, but it will ravish the Eyes of the bleffed Spectators, with a new and incredible Joy ; 'when they fhall come to behold that moft beautiful Phoenix rife out of the Afhes of the old World, that moft Refined piece of God's Laft Handy-work, in all its wonderful Luftre and Glory.

When, to have but a true and per"fect Idea of the Mundane Syftem, even as now it is; To be carry'd thro' the Universe, and take a full Survey, not only of what we call the World, here below; but of thofe many and mighty Unknown Worlds, over our heads: And to fee and throughly Difcern all their exfact Dimensions, Motions, Natures, Contents, Ufes, Novels, and Varieties; Some that care not to be any great Proficients in Piety, Yet (merely to gratify their Ingenuity and Curiofity,) Would be willing to quit many of the finest Pleafures that tempt 'em here, To be but Entertain'd and taken up with fuch a fweet and wonderful View, as they are eagerly aiming at, and even crack their Brains in ftretching after; Tho' it's a {bove all the sharpeft of Mortals to at

beyond that
that Conjectural Knowledge,
which is but a bolder fort of Igno-

O then, What inexpreffible Tranfports. ' and delight will it give, To behold with open Eyes, in the most Confpicuous fatisfactory manner, all the new and ftupendous Frame of a far better World, with 6 every of the Springs and Movements, and the whole Regularity and Beauty, moft worthy the Supreme Eternal Architect, the God of infinite Wisdom, Power, Goodness and Glory!

Hat the Senfe of Hearing, together

with the Organs of Speaking, fhall remain in Heaven, there's no Reason to doubt. For the Bodies of the Bleffed are true and Living Bodies, and Perfect all over; even as the Body of our Lord, after his Resurrection: which all the Apoftles, and many others, men and women, perceiv'd most clearly; when they heard

him speak to 'em; and Answering the que ftions which they did put to him. As A&t. 1. 6. And S. Paul in particular, heard him fpeak from Heaven to him. Act. 9.4, 5, 6.

That there fhall be alfo Songs in Heaven, and chiefly that of the fweet Ha elujab, He that Lay in our Lord's Bofom tells us, Rev. 5. 9, 12. and Chap. 15. 3. No queftion then, but the Heavenly City fhall refound with the fweetest Songs, Chanting forth the Praises of the molt High Eternal God; wonderfully to delight the ravifhed Ears of all his happy Saints. And if all things there bear a barmonious Proportion, No doubt but thofe Songs will be the more Sublime and Charming; by how much the Singers are more Intelligent and Expert,He alfo that's Praifed more Glorious and Tran fcendent, and the Place where they Sing, more Lofty and Eminent; As likewife, the Corona and Concourfe of the Hearers, more Refin'd. and Delicate.

O who can Think, what it will be, in that profound Peace, and dear Union of Souls, and the Ardour of Love to their Supreme Lord, to their Bleffed Father, Saviour, and Comforter, To hear the clear Notes, and Warbling Voices of all the Heavenly Choir, in the moft perfect Confort, finging Hallelujah! With what Ravish ment will our Ears be fill'd, When Millions of the Celestial Singers and Harpers, with

the

the most sweet and concordant Voices, and melodious Accents, fhall joyn to praise the Lord; and Millions more, with the like fweet Accord, and rapturous Ardour, repeat the fame over and over!

And who can tell, but in that Heavenly City, they fhall not only Sing the Praifes of God; But alfo give fome strokes of Applause, for the Victories and Triumphs of his Saints and Martyrs, Redounding alfo to the Glory of his abundant Grace ?So Ecclus. 31. 8. Bleed is the Rich, that is found without blemish, and has not gone after Gold. Who is be? And we will call him Bleffed. For wonderful things has be done among his people who hath been Tried He thereby, and found Perfect? Then let him Glory. The Congregation fhall declare his Alms. Though this may fignify the Praise of mortal Saints in the Church upon Earth: Yet feems it more agreeable to the Immortal Citizens and Church Triumphant above. For there they shall have Eternal Glory: Yea, and be Praised even by their Lord himself, who will fay to the good if and faithful Servant, as Mat. 25. 21. Well done; Enter into the Joy of thy Lord And may not thofe Words be taken up by all' the Heavenly Choir, and repeated again and again? This agrees with S. Auguftin's Senfe, (De Civit.) There fhall be true Glory, where none is Praised through Mistake or Flat

Unworthy fhall afpire: For none undeferving is permitted to be there. O Blessed then, and abundantly Blessed They, who in that Place, whence Fawning and Falshood are banish'd shall bear their Praises sung, without any danger of Pride; but not without the increase of Joy.

OW, as to the other Senfes, but lit.tle is to be faid. Not because

of 'em fhall want their agreeable Gratifications, and exalted Pleafures: But because the holy Scripture has not given us any Ac6. count what they fhall be. We hear from 'fome other Writings, Narratives concerning the Bodies of feveral Eminent Saints that have shed abroad a wonderful Odour of Sweetness; affoon as the Souls were Departed and Glorify'd. But I dare not depend upon the Examples of that nature alledged; as fufficiently Authentic, to infer from 'em, the much fweeter Fragrancy, which the Living and Glorify'd Saints
