REPORT OF COMMITTEE ON ENROLLED BILLS

The Committee on Enrolled Bills submit the following as correctly enrolled and ready for ratification:

S. 459. (H. 642.-Mr. Carter): An Act to amend Sections 1, 3, and 5 of an Act entitled "An Act to Amend Sections 1, 4, 9, 10, 13, 15, 16, 17, 19, 22, and 25 of an Act Entitled 'An Act to Raise Revenue for the Support of the State Government by Levy and Collection of a Tax on Gifts,' etc., Known as Act No. 538, of the Acts of 1924, Approved the 26th day of March, 1924," so as to further provide for taxation, penalties, jurisdiction, and for trial by jury of valuation issues.

S. 395.-(H. 623.-Judiciary Committee): An Act to provide for the satisfaction of mortgages or deeds of trust of real property and for the recording thereof.

S. 124. (H. 487.-Mr. Amick): An Act to exempt Probate Judges of this State from filing with the Tax Commission statements filed in their offices by executors and administrators when such statements show that the estate would not be liable for any inheritance tax.

S. 746. (H. 820.-Mr. Patterson): An Act to provide for an additional Magistrate and Constable in Barnwell County.

S. 415. (H. 736.-Mr. J. F. Williams): An Act to authorize and provide for the merger or consolidation of corporations and to define the powers and duties, rights and liabilities thereof, when merged or consolidated.

S. 700. (H. 789.-Mr. W. S. Rogers): An Act to repeal an Act entitled "An Act to Amend Section 5312, Volume 3, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1922, so as to Make the Rank and Priority of the Written Instruments Enumerated therein Date from the Filing of said Instruments in the Proper Office of Record," approved the 19th day of March, 1925, known as Act No. 264, of the Acts of 1925, and to repeal Section 5312, Volume 3, Code of Laws of 1922, etc., and to further provide for the recording and indexing of written Instruments, etc.

S. 132. (H. 363.-Mr. Hamilton): An Act to amend Section 888, Volume 2, Code of Laws of South Carolina, 1922, relating to

the sale of tonics, etc., by further providing storage and sale of all articles containing alcohol and to provide the penalty for violation thereof.

RATIFICATION OF ACTS

At 2:00 p. m. the Honorable the House of Representatives attended in the Senate Chamber, when the following Acts were ratified:

S. 477. (H. 489.-Kershaw Delegation): An Act to provide for the levy of taxes for county and school purposes for the County of Kershaw for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 1925, and for the expenditure thereof.

S. 340. (H. 336.-Lee Delegation): An Act to provide for the levy of taxes for county purposes for the County of Lee for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 1925, and for the expenditure thereof.

S. 725.-(H. 398.-Messrs. Ezell, Boyd and Odom): An Act to amend Sections 1886 and 1887, Vol. 3, of the Code of Laws of 1922, to provide for the county government of Spartanburg County, and define its powers and duties, to abolish the Spartanburg County Highway Commission and to abolish the office of County Supervisor of Spartanburg County and devolve the duties of the Highway Commission and Supervisor on the County Board.

S. 336. (H. 344.-Ways and Means Committee): An Act to make appropriations to meet the expenses of the State Government for the fiscal year beginning January 1, 1925, and to provide for the assessment and collection of license taxes to defray the same.

S. 733.—(H. 792.—Mr. Purdy): An Act relating to the salary of the Judge of Probate of Jasper County.

RECESS

At 2:30 p. m., on motion of Mr. YOUNG, the Senate receded from business until 3:30 p. m. today.

AFTERNOON SESSION

The Senate reassembled at 3:30 p. m., and was called to order by the PRESIDENT.

MESSAGE TO THE GOVERNOR

Mr. PEARCE moved that a committee be appointed to wait upon his Excellency, the Governor, to inform him that the Senate, having

completed its business for this session, was ready to adjourn sine die, which was agreed to.

The PRESIDENT appointed on the committee to wait upon his Excellency, the Governor, Messrs. Pearce, Cooper and Funderburk.

MESSAGE FROM THE GOVERNOR

Columbia, S. C., April 9, 1925.

Gentlemen of the General Assembly:

I have signed the General Appropriation Bill as sumbitted to me. Allow me to express to you my thanks and appreciation for the courtesies and consideration shown to me, and to extend to each one of you my best wishes for the health and prosperity of yourselves and your families.

I have no further communication for the General Assembly.

On motion of Mr. FREEMAN, the Clerk of the Senate was sent to inform the House of Representatives that the Senate had disposed of the business before it, and was ready to adjourn sine die.

MESSAGE FROM THE HOUSE OF REPRESENTATIVES

The Sergeant at Arms announced a message from the House, and Hon. J. Wilson Gibbes, Clerk of the House, appeared and announced that the House had disposed of the business before it, and was ready to adjourn sine die.

ADJOURNMENT

At 3:34 o'clock p. m., on motion of Mr. PEARCE, the Senate adjourned sine die.
