2 Though unworthy, Lord, thine ear
Our humble hallelujahs hear,
Purer praise we hope to bring,
When around thy throne we sing.
3 While on earth ordain'd to stay,
Guide our footsteps in thy way,
Till we come to reign with thee,
And all thy glorious greatness see.
Then no tongue shall silent be,
And all shall join in harmony;
That, through heav'n's all-spacious round,
Thy praise, O God, may ever sound.

5 Lord, thy mercies never fail :
Hail, celestial goodness, hail !

2

Holy, holy, holy Lord,

Be thy glorious name ador'd!

HYMN LXXI.

Praise and Thanksgiving.

HAIL, thou eternal King!

Thy ceaseless praise we sing :
Praise shall our glad tongues employ,
Praise o'erflow our grateful soul,
While we vital breath enjoy,
While eternal ages roll.

Let earth's remotest bound
With thy glad praise resound¡
From thine high and holy place,
Where thou dost in glory reign,
Thou, in condescending grace,
Deign'st to view the sons of men.

3 O Lord, thou God of love!
While we thy mercy prove,
Praise shall our glad tongues employ,
Praise o'erflow our grateful soul,
While we vital breath enjoy,

While eternal ages roll.

HYMN LXXII.

Praise and Thanksgiving. 1 SOVEREIGN Lord of might and glory! Author of our mortal frame! Joyfully we bow before thee, And extol thine holy name : Hallelujah!

Ever sacred be the theme!

2 Kind Dispenser of each blessing,
Which surrounds the human race!
May we, gratefully possessing,
Still adore thy boundless grace :
Hallelujah!

Praise to God, immortal praise !
3 While with joyful exultation
We attend before thy throne,
Let us, with glad acclamation,
Thine abundant mercies own:
Hallelujah!

1

Praise belongs to thee alone!
In thine ev'ry dispensation,
Grace and mercy we descry;
Thou, the God of our salvation,
To preserve us, still art nigh:
Hallelujah!

Glory be to God on high!

HYMN LXXIII.

Praise and Thanksgiving.

O COME let us join,

With musick divine,

Our Creator to praise,

And joyfully sing his unspeakable grace ! Thou light of mankind,

Shine into each mind,

And clearly reveal

Thy perfect and good and acceptable will.

2 Our heavenly guide, With us will abide, His comfort impart,

And set up his kingdom of love in our licart; The heart that believes,

His mercy receives,

He will give us to prove,
Ilis utmost salvation, his fulness of love.

HYMN LXXIV.

Doxology.

1 From all who dwell below the skies,
Let the Creator's praise arise;
Let the Almighty's name be sung,
Through ev'ry land, by ev'ry tongue.

2 Eternal are thy mercies, Lord,
Eternal truth attends thy word;

Thy praise shall sound from shore to shore, Till suns shall rise and set no more.

HYMN LXXV.

Humble adoration.

1 LO God is here! let us adore,
And humbly bow before his face,
Let ail within us feel his power,
Let all within us seek his grace ;
Who know his power, his grace who prove,
Serve him with awe, with reverence love.

2 Being of beings, may our praise

Thy courts with grateful fragrance fill,
Still may we stand before thy face,
Still hear and do thy sovereign will;
To thee may all our thoughts arisc
An acceptable sacrifice.

3 In thee we move, all things of thee
Are full, thou source and life of all,

.

Thou vast unfathomable sea,

On thee the God of love we call, Thou art the God, thou art the Lord, Be thou by all thy works ador'd.

HYMN LXXVI.

God the Father of our spirits.

1 ETERNAL Source of life and thought!
Be all beneath thyself forgot,

While thee, great Parent Mind, we own,
In próstrate homage round thy throne.
2 While in themselves our souls survey,
Of thee some faint reflected ray,

They wond'ring, to their Father rise:
His pow'r, how vast! his thoughts, how wise !

3 O may we live before thy face

Th' obedient children of thy grace,
And through each path of duty move
With filial awe and filial love.

4 Call us away from flesh and sense:
Thy sovereign hand can draw us thence;
We would obey the voice divine,
And all inferior joys resign.

HYMN LXXVII.

For the Lord's day.

1 GREAT God, this sacred day of thine
Demands our souls' collected powers!
May we employ in work divine
These solemn, these devoted hours!
O may our souls adoring own

The grace which calls us to thy throne!

2 The word of life dispens'd to day,
Invites us to a heavenly feast;
May every ear the call obey,
Be every heart a humble guest!

Let all draw near, and tasting prove
The sweetness of thy boundless love.
3 Thy truth's most pow'rful aid impart ;
may thy word, with life divine,
Engage the ear, and warm the heart!
Then shall the day indeed be thine ;
Then shall our souls adoring own
The grace which calls us to thy throne.

HYMN LXXVIII.

For the Lord's day.

1 OUR hearts shall triumph in the Lord,
And bless his works, and bless his word;
His works of grace! how bright they shine!
How deep his counsels! how divine!

2 So shall we share a glorious part,
When grace hath well refin'd our heart,
And fresh supplies of joy are shed,
Like holy oil to cheer our head.

3 Then shall we see, and hear, and know,
All we desir'd or wish'd below;
And every power find sweet employ
In that eternal world of joy.

HYMN LXXIX

The divine blessing implored.

1 AUTHOR of good, to thee we come; Thy ever wakeful ye

t

Alone can ail our wants discern,

Thy hand alone supply.

20 let thy fear within us dwell,
Thy love our footsteps guide:
That love shall vainer loves expel;
That fear, all fears beside.
