The "Register of the Great Seal of the Scottish Kings, Preserved in the Public Archives," contains a Record of the Royal Charters granted by the Kings of Scotland, under the Great Seal of the Kingdom from the Accession of Robert Bruce, (King Robert I.) in the year 1306, to the Return of King James I., from Captivity in England, in the year 1424.

This Work is an Abridgement of the Record comprehend-
ing all those Proceedings by "Inquest," or the Verdict
of an
"Assize," which originate in certain Writs issuing
from Chancery, and which are ultimately transmitted or
"retoured" to that Court.
