Mr. John D. Wil'ard presented a petition of flour dealers and millers in Troy, for a ferry between Troy and Albany, which was read and referred to the committee on the internal affairs of towns and counties.

Mr. Boardman presented a petition of supervisors of Seneca co., for an act to confine insane persons under indictment, in Insane prison hospital, at Auburn, which was read and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Paterson, from the committee on the incorporation of cities and villages, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to amend the charter of the village of Attica," reported in favor of the passage of the same, with amendments, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole

Mr. J. A. Willard, from the committee on the internal affairs of towns and counties, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act providing for copying the books of record, when necessary, in the office of the clerk of the county of Franklin," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Loveland, from the committee on State prisons, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act for the enlargement of Clinton prison," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Halsted, from the committee on the incorporation of cities and villages, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act to amend the charter of the village of Oxford," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Loveland from the committee on public printing, to whom was referred the resolution to print extra copies of the report of the Physician of the Marine Hospital, reported the following resolution :

Resolved, That 250 extra copies of the report of the Physician of

the Marine Hospital be printed for the use of the physician and 250 copies for the use of the Senate.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Halsted, from the committee on the incorporation of cities and villages, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act to amend the act entitled 'An act to amend the several acts incorporating the village of Owego, in the county of Tioga," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Ames, from the committee on commerce and navigation, to which was referred the Assembly bill entitled "An act authorizing Jonathan Preston to establish and continue a ferry across Deering Harbor, from Greenport to Shelter Island," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Ely, from the committee on the incorporation of cities and villages, to which was referred the bill entitled "An act in relation to the North Western Dispensary in the city of New York," reported in favor of the passage of the same, which report was agreed to, and said bill committed to the committee of the whole.

Mr. Prosser gave notice that he would at an early day ask leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to expedite the canvass of votes taken at special elections held to supply vacancies in the office of members of the Legislature, under a proclamation of the Governor."

Mr. Brandreth gave notice that he would at an early day ask leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to authorize the sale of lands for the non-payment of taxes, and for the collection of unpaid taxes in the county of Westchester."

Mr. Spinola gave notice that he would at an early day ask leave to introduce a bill to "amend the charter of the Sun Mutual Insurance Co."

In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. Paterson asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act in relation to the auditing of accounts by boards of supervisors, and the duties of certain officers in connection therewith," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the internal affairs of towns and counties. By unanimous consent, Mr. Brandreth asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to authorize the sale of lands for the non payment of taxes, and for the collection of unpaid taxes in the county of Westchester," which was read the first time, and by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the internal affairs of towns and counties. In pursuance of previous notice, Mr. John D. Willard asked and obtained leave to introduce a bill entitled "An act to provide for the service of process upon persons imprisoned in the State prisons, and to protect their civil rights," which was read the first time, ard by unanimous consent was also read the second time, and referred to the committee on the judiciary.

Mr. Mather offered the following resolution:

Resolved, That the various bills for the repeal and modification of the Metropolitan Police Act, be made the special order for Tuesday next at 12 o'clock.

The President put the question whether the Senate would agree to said resolution, and it was decided in the affirmative.

Mr. Spinola moved to reconsider the vote just taken.

Mr. Brandreth offered the following preamble and resolution: Whereas, The investigations of the committee on public buildings to which was referred so much of the Governor's Message as relates to the Lobby, have produced no results of an important nature; and whereas, the same is true of the select committee appointed to investigate the charges preferred by the honorable Senator from the Ninth District; and whereas, the said investigations are conducted with great expense to the State; therefore

Resolved, That the said committees are discharged from the further consideration of the several subjects consigned to their investigations.

The preamble and resolution was laid on the table by consent of the mover.

The Senate then resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of the general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

The Senate then resolved itself into a committee of the whole, and proceeded to the consideration of the general orders, being the bills entitled as follows:

"An act to legalize the proceedings of the school commissioner and trustees of the Union Free School, district number four, in the town of Newtown, county of Queens."

Assembly bill, "An act to extend the charter of the Fire Department of the city of Albany."

Assembly bill, "An act to enable the Shinecock tribe of Indians to exchange certain rights in land with the trustees of the proprietors of the common and undivided lands and marshes in the town of Southampton."

And after some time spent therein, Mr. Foote, from said committee, reported in favor of the passage of said first and second mentioned bills, which report was agreed to, and said bills ordered to a third reading.

"An act to authorize the Canal Board to examine and determine the claim of Squire Whipple for the use of his iron truss bridge upon the State canals."

"An act to authorize Wyngant G. Vandenbergh, the only surviving member of the Consistory of the Reformed Protestant Congregation, of Halfinoon, Saratoga county, to alienate certain real estate belonging to said congregation."
