Resolved, That the Auditor of the Territory be directed to report to this House a detailed statement of the assessed value of taxable property in the several counties of the Territory for the year 1845; the amount of territorial tax due from each county; the amount of territorial tax that has been paid by the treasurer of each county to the treasurer of the Territory, and the kind of funds in which cuch payments have been made in each case.

Mr. Mosers, agreeably to previous notice and by leave, introduced

No. 1. (H. of R.) "A bill to change the form of government in the county of Washington, and for other purposes;" Which was read the first and second times,

Mr. Hoard, agreeably to previous notice and by leave, introduced

No. 2. (H. of R.) "A bill to amend the election law concerning justices of the peace;"

Which was read the first and second times.

Mr. Thomas, agreeably to previous notice and by leave, introduced

No. 1, (H. of R.) "A memorial to Congress relative to the canal lands;"

Which was read the first and second times.

Mr. Earll, agreeably to previous notice, and by leave, introduced

No. 3. (H. of R.) "A bill to change the time of holding courts in certain counties in the second judicial district;" Which was read the first and second times.

Mr. Dennis, from the committee on Finance, by leave, introduced the following resolution ;

Which was adopted, to wit:

Resolved, That the Secretary of this Territory be requested to lay before this House a statement showing the whole amount of money which he has received from the Treasury Department at Washington on account of appropriations made by Congress for this Territory. Also a statement in detail showing to whom the said appropriations have been paid and the amount paid to each person, And also that he make a par

ticular report, which will show how the appropriation made by Congress to pay the arrearages of legislative expenses of this Territory have been disbursed by him.

Mr. Brown offered the following resolution;
Which was adopted, to wit:

Resolved, That the duties of the fireman of this House be extended to the superintendence of the committee room.

The motion of Mr. Hoard of yesterday, to add Mr. Billings to the committee on mining and smelting, was then taken up, when

Mr. Billings moved to amend the motion so as to include Mr. Phelps, from the county of Green ;

Which was agreed to.

The motion as amended was then agreed to.

On motion of Mr. Cruson,

The House resolved itself into committee of the whole on resolution No. 1, (C.) “Resolution relative to the termination of the present session of the Legislative Assembly,"

Mr. Hoard in the chair;

And after some time spent therein the committee rose and by their chairman reported the said resolution back to the House without amendment.

Mr. Phelps moved that said resolution be laid on the table; Which motion was modified by Mr. MaGone by adding, "until the 4th day of July next ;"

Which was disagreed to.

Mr. Burnett then moved to amend the resolution by striking out the words "Monday the second," in the last line, and inserting the words, "Tuesday the third;"

And pending the question on said amendment,

On motion of Mr. Mooers,

The said resolution was laid on the table.

The chair appointed Messrs. Billings, Cruson, Fisher, Mor row, MaGone, Jackson, Earll, Jones and Dennis the select committee to which had been referred so much of the Governor's message as relates to a penitentiary.

Mr. MaGone moved that the House adjourn until 2 o'clock, P. M.

Which was disagreed to.

There were ayes 8-noes 14.

Mr. Phelps moved that the House adjourn;

And a division having been called for,

There were ayes 8-noes 10.

On motion of Mr. Mooers,

The House resolved itself into committee of the whole on the Governor's message,

Mr. Sheldon in the chair;

And after some time spent therein the committee rose and by their chairman reported progress and asked leave to sit again thereon;

Leave was granted.

Mr. Brown moved that the House adjourn until 2 o'clock, P. M.;

Which was disagreed to.

And a division having been called for,

There were ayes 10-noes 11.

On motion of Mr. Phelps,

The House adjourned,

SIR-In answer to the enquiries embodied in a resolution passed by the House of Representatives, on this day, I have the honor to state, that on the 7th inst. I presented to the Council my annual report, as Auditor of Wisconsin Territory, and that I am informed that the same has been ordered to be printed, and will as soon as practicable be placed before you. All the information asked for in said resolution as far as I am able to give, will there appear.

Petitions were presented and referred as follows: By Mr. Barstow. A petition of A. T. Terney and 79 others, relative to a mail route;

By Mr. Phelps. A petition of Dariel Baxter, relative to his claims against the Territory for work on the capitol;

Referred to the committee on Territorial Affairs.

By Mr. Croswell. A memorial of the board of supervisors of the county of Walworth, asking for an alteration of the law for the collection of taxes on personal property;

Referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

Also, two petitions of inhabitants of the county of Walworth, asking the passage of a law authorizing the people to vote on the question of State Government;

Referred to the select joint committee on that subject.

Also, a petition of the inhabitants of the town of Centre, in the county of Rock, for a division of the same and the formation of a new town to be called Spring Valley;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.

Also, a petition of citizens of town 2, range 14 east, in Rock county, asking the passage of a law incorporating the same under the name of Bradford;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.

By Mr. Dennis. A petition of inhabitants of school district No. 5, in Dodge county, relating to the school funds of that district;

Referred to the committee on Schools.

By Mr. Clapp. A petition of inhabitants of the town of Aztalan, asking to have 8 sections of land set back to that town; Referred to a select committee consisting of members from the Dane district.

By Mr. Sheldon. A petition of 45 inhabitants of Racine county, asking for the passage of a law authorizing the people to vote on the question of State Government;

Referred to the select joint committee on that subject.

Also, a petition of 26 inhabitants of the county of Racine, asking that the question of licence or no license to retail spirituous liquors may be submitted to the electors of the several towns and precincts of the Territory.

Also, a petition of 33 ladies of said county on the same subject;

Referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

By Mr. MaGone. A petition of inhabitants of the county of Milwaukee, relating to the canal lands;

Referred to the committee on Internal Improvements.

By Mr. Jackson. A petition of Charles Jennings and 36 others, inhabitants of Racine county, praying for the organization of a State Government;

Referred to the select joint committee on that subject.

By Mr. Wooster. A petitition of inhabitants of the town. of Yorkville, Racine county, asking for a division of said town, and that portion therein described, to be organized into a new town to be called Black Hawk;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.

Also, a petition of inhabitants of town 5 north, and range 11 cast, in Dane county, praying to be organized into a separate town to be called Dover;

Referred to the committee on Corporations.
