A bill relating to the sale and disposition of certain swamp and overflowed lands,

By unanimous consent Senator Hudd offered the following amendment:

Strike out all after the enacting clause and insert as follows:

Section 1. All swamp and overflowed lands which have not yet been offered at public sale, and also those which may hereafter be re-offered at public sale, including those which have been and which may hereafter be patented to the state by the general government under the acts of congress of September 20th, 1850, and all lands so patented to the state in lieu of swamp and overflowed lands, and the proceeds arising from the sale of said lands shall go into, and be placed to the credit of the "drainage fund" for the benefit of the respective counties in which such lands are situate, and be distributed to such counties in proportion to the number of acres of said lands therein, which lands and moneys shall be used and applied as other drainage funds belonging to such counties are by law to be applied.

Section 2. All acts or parts of acts inconsistent with the provisions of this act are hereby repealed,

Section 3. This act shall take effect and be in force from and after its passage and publication.

Senator Ringle offered the following amendment to the amendment by inserting after the word "situate" in the seventh line, the words, "and the proceeds arising from the sale of lands patented to the state in lieu of swamp and overflowed lands shall be placed to the credit of the drainage fund of the counties where the lands in lieu of which such lands were patented to the state were situated.” Which was adopted.

The amendment was then rejected.
