with approbation at the hands of those who believe that education is the formation of the man, i.e. the cultivation of the mental powers, and the training of the heart; and not mere instruction in secular knowledge. In selecting the religious lessons, I have chiefly confined myself to our duties towards God and man, because these topics seem most fitting for boys to learn. And I would fain hope, that the volume will be found an acceptable addition to our present stock of school books, as well as an entertaining and useful one for families.
